Hit-and-Run Incident Leaves Multiple Injured in Cupertino

Anderson Franco Law

A hit-and-run accident involving three vehicles occurred early Saturday morning in Cupertino, leaving several individuals injured. The collision took place at approximately 12:01 AM at the intersection of North De Anza Boulevard and the De Anza Boulevard offramp, near the I-280 onramp. The vehicles involved included a white Acura sedan, a white Ford van, and a gray sedan.

Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, where they found the left lane blocked just before the I-280 onramp. One of the vehicles, the Acura sedan, attempted to move to the right-hand side to clear the lane. The exact direction of the incident remains unclear, as it occurred near the onramp to the highway.

Authorities are currently investigating the hit-and-run, and the community is urged to provide any information that may assist in identifying the responsible party. Motorists in the area are advised to exercise caution and remain vigilant for any potential hazards. Our thoughts are with those affected by this unfortunate event, and we hope for their swift recovery.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone gets hurt because of someone else’s carelessness, it’s called negligence. In a situation where a person is injured, the law looks at whether someone acted in a way that a careful person would not have. If they did, they might be responsible for the harm caused. For example, if a driver doesn’t pay attention and causes an accident, they might be considered negligent. The injured person, or victim, has the right to seek compensation for their injuries. This means they can ask for money to help cover things like medical bills and other costs related to the incident.

Victims of negligence can often make claims through insurance. If the person who caused the injury has insurance, the victim can file a claim with that insurance company. This is usually the first step in getting compensation. The insurance company will investigate the claim to decide if they should pay and how much. Sometimes, the insurance company might offer a settlement, which is a sum of money to cover the victim’s expenses. It’s important for victims to keep records of all their expenses and any other impacts the incident has had on their lives.

If the insurance claim doesn’t cover all the costs or if the insurance company denies the claim, the victim might need to take further legal action. This could mean going to court to prove that the other person was negligent and that the victim deserves more compensation. In court, the victim would need to show evidence of the other person’s carelessness and how it led to their injuries. This process can be complicated, so victims often work with lawyers who specialize in personal injury cases to help them navigate the legal system and get the compensation they deserve.
