Multi-Vehicle Collision Causes Major Delays on SR-85 in San Jose

Anderson Franco Law

A multi-vehicle collision on northbound State Route 85 near Blossom Hill Road in San Jose caused significant traffic disruptions on the morning of January 18, 2025. The incident, which occurred around 8:09 AM, involved at least three vehicles, including a black Tesla and a gray Porsche. According to witnesses, the Tesla was reportedly speeding and weaving through lanes before colliding with a merging truck.

Emergency services, including fire and medical units, responded promptly to the scene. One individual was extracted from a vehicle by firefighters, and debris from the collision was scattered across the roadway, blocking multiple lanes. The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert, advising motorists to expect delays and use the right shoulder to pass the accident site. By 9:25 AM, all lanes were reopened, and the involved parties were on their way.

The collision highlights the importance of adhering to speed limits and maintaining safe driving practices to prevent such incidents. Motorists are urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution, especially in high-traffic areas. Our thoughts are with those affected by this unfortunate event, and we hope for their swift recovery.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone is hurt because another person was careless, it’s called negligence. In a situation where a person gets hurt, the law looks at whether someone acted in a way that a careful person would not have. If they did, they might be responsible for the harm caused. For example, if a driver was not paying attention and caused an accident, they might be considered negligent.

Victims of such incidents have the right to seek compensation for their injuries. This means they can ask for money to help cover things like medical bills and other costs related to the incident. To do this, they usually need to show that the other person was at fault and that their carelessness directly caused the harm.

Insurance can play a big role in these situations. Many people have insurance that can help pay for damages when accidents happen. If the person who caused the harm has insurance, the victim might be able to file a claim with that insurance company. This can help the victim get the money they need without having to go to court.

However, sometimes insurance companies might not want to pay the full amount. In these cases, the victim might need to work with a lawyer to make sure they get what they deserve. It’s important for victims to know their rights and to seek help if they need it to make sure they are treated fairly.
