Multi-Vehicle Collision Causes Traffic Disruption on SR-85 in San Jose

Anderson Franco Law

A significant traffic collision involving five vehicles occurred on the northbound lanes of State Route 85 near the US 101 interchange in San Jose on Thursday evening. The incident was reported at approximately 6:13 PM, leading to immediate traffic congestion as emergency services responded to the scene.

Initial reports indicate that a white Jeep was blocking the express lane and lane #1, while two other vehicles were positioned on the right-hand side. One individual reportedly suffered a head injury during the collision, highlighting the severity of the impact. Emergency medical services were promptly dispatched to provide necessary assistance.

The collision resulted in major rear-end damage to two vehicles and significant front-end damage to another. By 6:42 PM, fire services were on-site to assist with the cleanup, and by 7:28 PM, only lane #4 remained blocked, with expectations for it to reopen shortly. Motorists were advised to exercise caution and seek alternate routes to avoid delays. Our thoughts are with those affected by this unfortunate event, and we hope for a swift recovery for the injured.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone gets hurt because of someone else’s carelessness, it’s called negligence. In a situation where a person is injured, the law looks at whether someone failed to be careful enough, which led to the accident. For example, if a driver wasn’t paying attention and caused a crash, they might be considered negligent. The injured person, or victim, has the right to seek compensation for their injuries. This means they can ask for money to help cover things like medical bills and other costs related to the accident.

Victims of negligence can often file a claim with the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. Insurance is there to help pay for damages when accidents happen. If the person who was careless has insurance, the victim can make a claim to get money for their injuries. This process usually involves showing proof of the accident and the injuries, like medical reports and bills. The insurance company will then decide how much money to offer based on the details of the case.

Sometimes, the insurance company might not offer enough money to cover all the costs. In these cases, the victim might need to take further action, like hiring a lawyer to help negotiate a better settlement or even going to court. It’s important for victims to know their rights and understand that they don’t have to accept the first offer from an insurance company. They have the right to seek fair compensation for what they’ve been through.
