Multi-Vehicle Collision on SR17 in San Jose Causes Traffic Disruptions

Anderson Franco Law

A multi-vehicle collision occurred on State Route 17 at the Hamilton Avenue offramp in San Jose on December 10, 2024, at approximately 1:03 PM. The incident involved a crane truck, a Toyota Tundra with a U-Haul trailer, and a Chevrolet van. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and lanes were initially blocked, causing significant traffic disruptions.

The collision resulted in injuries, with reports indicating that some individuals were bleeding and one older male was seen hunched over, possibly in shock. A hand injury was also noted among the involved parties. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those in the crane truck. Emergency medical services were on the scene to provide necessary care and transport to those affected.

The accident led to the temporary closure of lanes, but by 3:00 PM, all lanes were reopened, and vehicles were moved to the right-hand side of the road. Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the area as cleanup and investigation efforts continue. Our thoughts are with those injured in this unfortunate incident, and we wish them a swift recovery.

Potential Legal Considerations

When someone gets hurt because of someone else’s carelessness, it’s called negligence. In these cases, the person who got hurt, called the victim, has rights. They can ask for help to cover things like medical bills and other costs. To do this, they need to show that the other person was not careful and that this caused the accident. For example, if someone was driving too fast or not paying attention, they might be responsible for any harm that happens because of their actions.

Victims of accidents can also make insurance claims. This means they can ask the insurance company to pay for their expenses. If the person who caused the accident has insurance, the victim can file a claim with that insurance company. Sometimes, the victim’s own insurance might also help cover costs, especially if the other person doesn’t have enough insurance. It’s important for victims to keep records of everything, like medical visits and any other expenses, to show the insurance company.

In some cases, the insurance company might not want to pay what the victim thinks is fair. If this happens, the victim might need to talk to a lawyer. A lawyer can help explain the victim’s rights and might help them get more money. It’s important for victims to know that they have a right to be treated fairly and to get help for what happened to them.
